Weekly Announcements: September 9-13

Nipmuc Morning Announcements
Week of September 9-13, 2013

  • The DECA Cookout and Club Fair is scheduled for Friday, September 13th.  School lunch will not be provided on that day.  Cookout tickets are on sale in the school store now until Thursday, 9/12, for $5.  Tickets purchased on the day of the cookout will be $6. 
  • Club Fair representatives must have their posters and handout materials approved by Mrs. Moran during breaks in the Gathering Room on Thursday, 9/12.  Set up of your booths will take place after school on Thursday. 
  • Sophomores and Juniors interested in learning more about the National Honor Society should meet with NHS Advisor Mrs. Kyrka in room 217 during either break on Thursday, 9/12.
  • Applications for September driver education classes are available in the main office and on the school website.  Afternoon classes will be held at Nipmuc from September 16-27 every day after school at Nipmuc from 2:15 - 5:00. The evening class will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for 5 weeks from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. beginning September 17th.  Students must return a completed application and payment to the office by September 14th.
  • Any students looking for service hours for the National Honor Society, please see Mr. Leaver.
  • Attention Nipmuc!  Homecoming Weekend Bonfire is Friday, 9/27 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. and Homecoming Dance is Saturday, September 28th from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. at Nipmuc.  Ticket sales begin on Wednesday, 9/18.  Tickets will be sold at both breaks in the cafeteria.  Bonfire ticket is $3 and a dance ticket is $14.  If you plan to attend both events, you can purchase both for $16.  Home to see everyone there!
  • For the first time, Nipmuc will be co-oping with Northbridge High School this winter in swimming and wrestling.  Any students interested in either sport should see Mr. Leaver as soon as possible for more information.
  • NHS students will be offering tutoring in most math, science, English, and world language classes starting in the beginning of October.  Tutoring is held Monday through Thursday int he media center from 2:00 - 3:20 p.m. A schedule of tutoring sessions for all subjects will be posted on the bulletin board in the media center. 
Guidance Announcements
September 9-27, 2013
  • Admission counselors from Roanoke College, University of Vermont, Hampshire College and Wheaton College will hold information sessions in the guidance office this month.  Sign up in the guidance office if you would like to learn more about these colleges and to receive a pass to attend.
  • Attention Sophomores and Juniors:  It is now time to register to take the PSAT scheduled for Wednesday, October 16th at 7:30 a.m.  All sophomores should register with Mrs. Moore in the guidance office to take the PSAT and pick up a study booklet.  The registration fee for sophomores is being paid by a MMSI grant.  The registration fee for juniors is $25 cash or check made payable to Nipmuc Regional High School.  Deadline to register is Thursday, October 10th.
  • An Upton resident is looking for a babysitter for Wednesday afternoons for approximately 2 hours.  Please see Mrs. Moore in the guidance office for more details about this opportunity.
  • Attention Seniors:  If you have not returned your completed pink Parent Brag Sheet and yellow College Information Sheet to your guidance counselor before you left for summer break, please complete them now so that your counselor can write your college letter of recommendation!
  • Students are reminded to check the Guidance Blog for up-to-date information on college open houses, scholarships and general guidance information.
