Follow-up to Lockdown Drill

Good morning,
I wanted to let you know that a few moments ago our school practiced a lockdown drill in conjunction with Upton Police Department. I am glad to let you know that the drill was successful.

Our faculty and staff guided students through the procedure which involves making sure all students and staff members secure and supervise students in a safe location in the building. Our students responded to the drill in a cooperative and serious manner. I am very appreciative of their support in making the drill as effective as possible. I am also appreciative of the work of our faculty and staff members who help to improve this process on an ongoing basis. In addition, I would like to send thanks to the Upton Police Department for all of the continuing help we receive in guiding our practices with this safety drill.

As I mentioned in my earlier email, we will run an unannounced lockdown drill later in the spring. This will be done in the same manner as the unannounced fire drills that we conduct each year in our district. When running these drills, we will make students aware that we are practicing a drill rather than experiencing an actual crisis situation.

As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
John K. Clements
