Our school was "alive with the sound of music" as Nipmuc Drama produced three presentations of the musical last weekend. Congratulations to the actors, the musicians, the crew and everyone who worked together to put on this memorable performance. The play highlighted so many of our talented actors and performers. Their preparation and hard work paid off as they left the audiences thoroughly entertained and impressed with the high quality of the music and the number of standout performances turned in by the cast.
Congratulations to Director Elizabeth McCarthy, Music Director Mrs. Ledoux, the actors, and the crew for a tremendous performance.
Many thanks to our sponsors, Mr. Timmy King, Mrs. Slavin, and all the volunteers who helped to make the show a success.
As spring settles in over the course of the next few weeks, we will continue the process of getting ready to celebrate the Class of 2013. In order to help answer any questions that our seniors and their parents have about graduation and senior activities, we will be holding an informational presentation on April 3 at 7pm in the Nipmuc auditorium.

I am excited to announce that
Nipmuc sophomore Patrick Carey has been honored for his exemplary volunteer
service with a state-level Certificate of Excellence from the 2013 Prudential
Spirit of Community Awards Program. Presented annually by Prudential Financial
in association with the national Association of Secondary School Principals
(NASSP), this award honors young people across America for extraordinary
community service activities.
Patrick received his award
through his completion of the Soap for Hope program which collected toiletries
and personal items for local food pantries. Through his efforts Patrick was
able to provide nearly $2,000 worth of donations to support our community.
The Prudential Spirit of
Community Awards Program, now in its 18th year, is one of the
largest programs to recognize the achievements of America’s young volunteers.
Since the beginning of the program nearly 370,000 applicants have been
considered for this honor. Patrick’s accomplishment in being recognized by the
Awards Program distinguishes him as placing in the top 10% of applicants from
Massachusetts.
NASSP Executive Director JoAnn
Bartoletti puts this achievement in context by stating, “Demonstrating civic
responsibility through community volunteerism is an important part of life.
These honorees practice a lesson we hope all young people, as well as adults,
will emulate.”
We are especially proud of
Patrick’s accomplishment because he plans to run the Soap for Hope program
again this year. Running from March 25 – March 28, Patrick will be collecting toiletries
and personal items to be donated to local food pantries. Donation boxes will be located at Nipmuc, Miscoe, the Upton Library, and St. Gabriel's church. Check out the video below for more information about the project.
Good morning, I wanted to let you know that a few
moments ago our school practiced a lockdown drill in conjunction with Upton
Police Department. I am glad to let you know that the drill was successful.
Our faculty and staff guided students
through the procedure which involves making sure all students and staff members
secure and supervise students in a safe location in the building. Our students
responded to the drill in a cooperative and serious manner. I am very
appreciative of their support in making the drill as effective as possible. I
am also appreciative of the work of our faculty and staff members who help to
improve this process on an ongoing basis. In addition, I would like to send
thanks to the Upton Police Department for all of the continuing help we receive
in guiding our practices with this safety drill.
As I mentioned in my earlier email, we
will run an unannounced lockdown drill later in the spring. This will be done
in the same manner as the unannounced fire drills that we conduct each year in
our district. When running these drills, we will make students aware that we
are practicing a drill rather than experiencing an actual crisis situation.
As always, please feel free to contact me
with any questions or concerns.
Good afternoon,
As a result of the snow storm, we have rescheduled the District Family Fun Night to this Friday, 2/15, beginning at 5:30pm at Nipmuc. Come join us at the girls' basketball game for a night of fun and excitement. Students from Memorial, Clough, and Miscoe are allowed free admission when wearing a green shirt or a Miscoe athletic shirt. Nipmuc students are admitted for $1 when wearing Nipmuc colors. The Miscoe Hill Skippers will perform at half time of the varsity game.
